"Your active participation will play an important role in developing positive changes, not only within your country but also across the wider East Asian community," Indonesian Tourism Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana stated at the opening of the 37th UN Tourism CAP-CSA in Jakarta on Tuesday.
She remarked that the forum aims to discuss important issues related to developing the tourism sector in the region, with a focus on tourism policies and economic growth in neighboring countries.
The forum is attended by hundreds of UN Tourism members, UN Tourism affiliate members, international and regional organizations, and world tourism experts to share knowledge on global and regional trends in tourism investment.
According to Wardhana, the meeting provided the right momentum to advance the sharing of good practices, particularly in increasing tourism's direct and indirect contributions to the community.
She then expressed Indonesia's honor at hosting the annual UN Tourism regional meeting.
"I look forward to all of you taking part in productive discussions in this event," she noted.
