The cooperation was marked by the signing of memoranda of understanding (MoUs) in Amman on Monday.
"We have agreed with the minister of higher education and scientific research of the Kingdom of Jordan to enhance cooperation between the two countries in the field of education," Indonesian Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar noted in his statement here on Tuesday.
He elaborated that the agreements cover undergraduate and postgraduate programs, double degrees, and short course programs.
Umar and the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research of Jordan, Azmi Mahafzah, signed the MoU on education.
Meanwhile, the MoU on religious affairs and waqf was signed by Umar and Minister of Awqaf, Islamic Affairs, and Holy Places of Jordan, Mohammad Al-Khalaileh.
Indonesian President Prabowo Subiyanto and King Abdullah II of Jordan witnessed the MoU signing.
"We strengthened synergy in research and community service, educational institutions' development, and mutual recognition," the minister remarked.
He further noted that collaboration between both parties will also include exchanges of professors, lecturers, educational staff, students, and Islamic boarding school students. Additionally, it will provide short-term training in Arabic language and Islamic studies for lecturers and educational staff.
He stated that in the area of religious affairs and waqf, both parties agreed to cooperate in various fields, including sharing expertise and best practices in religious moderation and exchanging knowledge related to zakat (alms) and waqf.
"The Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs and the Ministry of Awqaf, Islamic Affairs, and Holy Places of Jordan also agreed to form a joint committee that will meet periodically to follow up on this MoU," he remarked.
