“Baznas is ready to collaborate with various parties to provide medical and educational services, especially for injured, sick, and orphaned children. We are aware that Egypt and Jordan have been hosting evacuees for such treatment,” Baznas Head Noor Achmad stated.
In an official statement cited here on Thursday, Achmad emphasized that several people in Gaza are currently facing life-or-death conditions, stating, “They could die without access to treatment and medication.”
Achmad also refuted claims that Indonesia’s evacuation plan aligns with US President Donald Trump’s alleged intention to alter Gaza’s demographics.
“We must differentiate between evacuation and relocation. Evacuation is temporary by nature, meaning evacuees will return to their place of origin after recovery,” he explained while noting the implausibility of relocating Gaza’s 2.2 million people.
He then described President Prabowo’s proposed mission as a strategic humanitarian initiative, especially given that hospitals in Egypt and Jordan may no longer have the capacity to treat additional Palestinian patients.
In light of this, Achmad underscored the importance of ensuring that Palestinian evacuees enter and exit Indonesia through official, legal channels.
“Many patients currently in Egyptian hospitals entered the country through unofficial procedures. Therefore, it is essential that our evacuation plan ensures a legitimate return process to Gaza,” he stated.
He then reiterated Baznas’ preparedness to support the planned humanitarian mission, including by providing medical aid.
“If needed, we are ready to participate. We have experience and partners capable of offering logistical and humanitarian assistance,” he concluded.
Earlier, on April 9, President Prabowo affirmed that Indonesia is willing and ready to evacuate Palestinians from Gaza.
"Indonesia is ready to deploy aircraft to evacuate approximately one thousand residents in the initial phase," he remarked in Jakarta.
He clarified that the evacuees would not become permanent residents in Indonesia but would return to Gaza once they recover and their homeland is deemed safe.
