Jakarta (ANTARA) - Hasan Nasbi resigned as Head of the Presidential Communication Office (PCO) and apologized to President Prabowo Subianto for shortcomings in his performance.

In a video posted on his Instagram account @totalpolitikcom on Tuesday, Nasbi announced his resignation, documenting his activities on his final day as presidential spokesperson on Monday (April 21).

"I must also apologize to the president for my service, which is still far below his expectations," he remarked in the video narration.

Nasbi officially resigned from the role he had held since August 2024, submitting his resignation letter to Prabowo through Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.

Nasbi stated that his resignation was the best course of action for the government.

Hasan said his decision was not the result of sudden or emotional impulses.

On that occasion, he also expressed gratitude to the president for entrusting him with the role in the Red and White Cabinet.

He also conveyed his willingness to assist with the transition process as a new head is appointed.

"This is the end of my journey in the PCO. We will certainly still meet on another occasion. My activities will not be far from the political world and government," Nasbi remarked.

On October 21, 2024, Prabowo officially appointed Nasbi to remain as PCO Head.

This institution is not under the coordination of the coordinating minister; instead, it works alongside the Attorney General, Head of the State Intelligence Agency (BIN), Chief of the Presidential Staff, and Cabinet Secretary.

The institution was established to support the implementation of the president's strategic communication and information efforts in a synergistic and integrated manner.

Nasbi was first inaugurated by the seventh President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, on August 19, 2024, through the issuance of Presidential Regulation Number 82 of 2024 concerning the Presidential Communications Office.
