Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Youth and Sports Ministry has disbursed Rp210 billion (approximately US$12.6 million) in the second phase of the government's assistance program for numerous national sports federations.

Youth and Sports Minister Dito Ariotedjo stated that this funding aims to enhance the potential achievements of Indonesian athletes competing in the SEA Games in Thailand, scheduled for December 9-20, 2025.

"This second phase of government assistance targets sports that will be contested at the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand, as well as those with potential in the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games," he said in Jakarta on Wednesday.

He made this announcement during the signing of a cooperation agreement between the Youth and Sports Ministry, the national sports federations, and the National Paralympic Committee of Indonesia (NPCI).

He noted that the government has disbursed a total of Rp630 billion (approximately US$37.9 billion) to these sports organizations since the program's first phase.

He specified that the second phase of assistance is directed to 11 national sports federations and 10 sports branches under the NPCI.

Ariotedjo emphasized that the allocation of this assistance is based on thorough assessments conducted by the ministry team.

"This allocation is based on the potential and needs of each sport, as reviewed by a team comprising academics, the athletes' commission, and experts. The aid amount also takes into account the government's financial capacity," he elaborated.

This assistance is expected to not only improve athletic performance but also encourage athlete regeneration within each sport.

The national sports federations receiving this assistance include the Indonesian Rowing Association (PB PODSI), the Indonesian Karate-Do Federation (PB Forki), the Indonesian Wrestling Association (PB PGSI), and the Indonesian Kick Boxing Federation (PP KBI).
