"The suspension is our preventive measure to mitigate its risks to the public," Alexander Sabar, the ministry's director general for digital supervision, stated in the ministry's press statement received here Sunday.
The ministry will then summon its local operators, PT Terang Bulan Abadi and PT Sandina Abadi Nusantara, to clarify their operations due to potential violations of Indonesia's electronic system regulations in Worldcoin and World ID activities.
A preliminary probe found that PT Terang Bulan Abadi is not registered as an electronic system operator and does not hold any operational permit (TDPSE) as required by law.
"We found that the TDPSE for the Worldcoin service is under the name of another company, PT Sandina Abadi Nusantara," Sabar said.

He informed that all digital service operators are required to be registered and accountable to the public, according to Government Regulation No. 71 of 2019 on Electronic System and Operations and Minister's Regulation No. 10 of 2021 on Electronic System Operation by Private Parties.
"Non-compliance to the registration requirement and abusing the identity of other legal bodies to conduct digital service operations amounted to serious violations of our regulations," the ministry official said.
Hence, the ministry decided to take action to ensure the security of the nation's digital ecosystem. Sabar also encouraged people to be cautious about unauthorised digital services and report it to the authorities.
"We ask the people to contribute to keeping our digital space safe and trusted for the nation," he remarked.
The Worldcoin system requires new users to scan their iris using its iris scanner in return for some tokens. As it attracted interest from more Indonesians, the system raised concerns regarding user privacy and digital security.
