The expo took place from April 25 to 27, 2025.
According to the ministry's Deputy Minister for Marketing, Ni Made Ayu Marthini, Indonesia's participation at the leading tourism industry exhibition in Asia was aimed at promoting priority destinations, including Borobudur, Bromo-Tengger-Semeru, and Labuan Bajo.
It was also intended to improve awareness of the "Wonderful Indonesia" campaign in Macao.
In a statement released on Monday, she informed that the Indonesia Pavilion facilitated business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-consumer (B2C) activities, which were expected to boost sales of tour packages prepared by industry players.
The promotional activities carried out at the Wonderful Indonesia Pavilion included providing product knowledge, business-to-business meetings through pre-scheduled appointments (PSA) and business-to-consumer systems, and information services.
They further included Wonderful Indonesia social media promotions and distribution of promotional materials and souvenirs.
Marthini said that MITE 2025 was also a momentum for Indonesia to promote the concept of sustainable tourism that has been implemented in the country to manage the tourism sector.
She expressed the hope that Indonesia's participation in the event would showcase the travel experiences offered by 10 super-priority destinations and special interests, including wellness, marine, gastronomy, and luxury.
It was hoped that visitors, including the people of Macao, the international community, and the Indonesian diaspora, would also share information about tourist destinations implementing green and sustainable concepts in Indonesia.
Assistant deputy for foreign tourism marketing II at the ministry, Yulia, expressed the hope that Indonesia's participation in MITE 2025 would support the target of boosting international tourist arrivals to Indonesia by 14 million to 16 million in 2025.
"Foreign tourists from Macao in 2024 contributed 1,573 visits. In 2025, the Ministry of Tourism targets the number to increase to 1,600 foreign tourist visits from this region," she informed.
