Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto received the Darjah Kerabat Laila Utama Yang Amat Dihormati (Most Esteemed Family Order of Laila Utama) from Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei Darussalam.

The award presentation took place at the Nurul Iman Palace, Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei, on Wednesday.

The Sultanate of Brunei Darussalam presented this honor as its highest recognition for heads of state and world leaders who have significantly contributed to advancing cooperative relations with Brunei Darussalam.

President Prabowo highlighted the importance of his state visit to Brunei, emphasizing the need to maintain strong relations between the two countries, which have enjoyed decades of friendship.

"This visit is certainly very important for us. As mentioned earlier, the two countries share common roots, culture, history, and religion. We are truly 'one family,'” Prabowo stated after meeting with Sultan Bolkiah.

He noted that Indonesia and Brunei, as fellow members of ASEAN, should support and protect one another.

"Only through cooperation between us, as fellow ASEAN members, can we together protect each other amid global uncertainty,” he noted.

Prabowo highlighted that close relations between the two countries meant that events in Brunei would also affect Indonesia.

"If Brunei is 'pinched,' all of us in Indonesia will also feel the pain. We are very proud to have Brunei Darussalam as a good friend," President Prabowo concluded.

The series of events at the Nurul Iman Palace concluded with a luncheon hosted by Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah.

President Prabowo is scheduled to return to Indonesia on Wednesday afternoon after completing all his state agendas in Brunei Darussalam.
