"Let me emphasize that the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia explicitly mandates the Indonesian people to participate in maintaining world order based on independence, eternal peace, and social justice," Prabowo stated at the 19th Session of the Parliamentary Union of OIC Member States (PUIC) Conference in Jakarta, Wednesday (May 14).
The president stressed that these principles are not merely rhetoric but serve as a moral compass and the foundation for the key policies underpinning Indonesia's foreign policy.
Amid a world beset by conflict, geopolitical tensions, and rivalry among major powers, President Prabowo underscored the importance of Muslim-majority countries playing an active role as a balancing force that carries a message of peace and justice.
"Since its establishment in 1999, the Parliamentary Union of OIC Member States has been determined to be a bridge for parliamentary diplomacy that strengthens solidarity, voices justice, and presents solutions to complex global problems," he remarked.
At the 19th PUIC Conference, Prabowo addressed more than 400 delegates from 38 OIC member states, including representatives from 10 observer countries.
The conference is being held at the parliament building in Senayan, Jakarta, on May 12-15, under the theme "Good Governance and Strong Institutions as Pillars of Resilience."
