"The target for schools in 3T areas is around 33,182 out of the total target of 300 thousand schools receiving digitalized learning support," the ministry's Director General of Early Childhood Education, Primary Education, and Secondary Education, Gogot Suharwoto, stated during a work meeting with Commission X of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), on Monday.
He noted that these 33 thousand schools included Early Childhood Education (PAUD), Community Learning Activity Centers (PKBM), Elementary Schools, Middle Schools, High Schools, Vocational Schools, and Special Schools (SLB).
He explained that the digital learning assistance package includes smart boards or interactive whiteboards, laptops, satellite internet, and solar panels.
The ministry launched the digitalization program for education on May 2, commemorating National Education Day 2025. Through this program, the ministry aims to introduce smart classrooms in schools.
In the learning sector, digitalization of education will be conducted through deep learning, coding, and artificial intelligence (AI) in the 2025-2026 academic year. These three learning approaches are intended to maximize the use of digital learning tools, facilities, and infrastructure.
Earlier, Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, Abdul Mu'ti, stated that the launch of this program demonstrates the government's commitment to accelerating the distribution and improvement of national education quality.
He also expressed readiness to distribute 15 thousand smart boards or interactive whiteboards to strengthen the digitalization of teaching and learning activities in schools.
In addition, the government aims to revitalize 10,440 educational units, with 78 percent state educational units and 22 percent private educational units.
Suharwoto elaborated that this program will be funded with a budget of Rp16.97 trillion (US$1 million) to improve access to educational services and the quality of education nationwide.
