"Mr. President wants village cooperatives to distribute social aid, cash assistance, fertilizers, groceries, and even liquefied petroleum gas," Patria stated at the Jakarta Town Hall on Wednesday.
After a meeting with Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung and village leaders from across the capital, Patria noted that July 12 had been set as the launch date for 80 thousand cooperatives under the Red and White Village Cooperatives program.
He explained that the planned cooperatives will have various facilities, including offices, medical clinics, pharmacies, cold storage rooms, and logistical vehicles.
Patria expressed hope that these cooperatives would efficiently absorb the local farmers' output while also providing basic goods and services at reasonable prices.
The deputy minister then ensured the active involvement of local residents in developing the cooperatives, with village leaders serving as heads of supervisory boards.
He added that the Ministry of Law had been tasked with facilitating the legalization of the rural business entities.
Furthermore, Patria lauded Governor Anung for his goal of establishing 267 cooperatives before the program's nationwide launch.
"I am confident in Jakarta's ability, considering its quality human resources, huge budget, accessibility, and strong leadership," he remarked.
Meanwhile, Anung stated that his plan for 267 cooperatives aligns with Presidential Instruction No. 9 of 2025, which calls for fast-tracking the implementation of the Red and White Village Cooperative program.
He added that the plan had been included in the Jakarta Regional Medium-Term Development Plan, with the Regional Development Planning Agency (Bappeda) responsible for coordination.
