"We are confident that our cooperatives will have been established by July 12, and by early October, they will be operational," Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung remarked at the Jakarta Town Hall on Wednesday.
He pointed out that the cooperative development plan aligns with Presidential Instruction No. 9 of 2025, which calls for expediting the establishment of cooperatives under the Red and White Village Cooperative program.
Anung highlighted that his administration had incorporated the 267 kelurahan cooperatives plan into the Regional Medium-Term Development Plan of the capital city.
He remarked that the Jakarta Regional Development Planning Agency (Bappeda) has been tasked with coordinating the plan.
The governor then outlined several key components of the plan, including the requirement for each village cooperative to have its own dedicated office building.

"Second, there must be kiosks offering staple commodities. Furthermore, the cooperatives should also run savings and loan services, operate medical clinics, have a warehouse, and be connected to logistical services," he stated.
Anung said a coordination meeting on the Red and White Village Cooperative program had been held on Wednesday morning during which Ahmad Riza Patria, the deputy minister of villages and development of disadvantaged regions, and all kelurahan leaders across Jakarta were present.
Patria emphasized that the central government had set a target of establishing around 80 thousand village cooperatives in the initial stage of the program.
"The plan is for Mr. President (Prabowo Subianto) on July 12, coinciding with National Cooperatives Day, to launch all the new cooperatives, including those planned in Jakarta," he remarked.
The former Jakarta deputy governor also expressed optimism in Anung's ability to execute the program in the capital effectively.
