During the meeting in London on Tuesday, both parties discussed key issues including bilateral trade, job creation, and investment, according to a statement from Kadin on Thursday.
"We convened with an all-party parliamentary group consisting of parliamentarians who focus on Indonesia-related matters. They inquired about how Indonesia is responding to US tariffs and in which sectors the UK could collaborate," Kadin chair Anindya Bakrie said.
He noted that the strong diplomatic relationship between Indonesia and the UK should be supported by enhanced business and investment cooperation to yield more tangible outcomes.
"This way, we can boost economic growth to our target of 8 percent, create job opportunities, and significantly increase trade and investment flows," he added.
Bakrie also said the meeting in London served as a form of economic diplomacy, helping expand the market reach of Indonesian products beyond traditional partners such as the US and China.
He emphasized the importance of Indonesia leveraging its roles in international platforms like BRICS and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) to access new markets.
In the same statement, Indonesian Ambassador to the UK, Desra Percaya, emphasized that the meeting was a crucial step toward strengthening economic relations between the two countries.
"Maintaining strong relations with the UK is essential to enhancing mutually beneficial trade and investment," he said.
