Speaking at a national event commemorating the birth of Pancasila—the state ideology—in Jakarta on Monday, Prabowo emphasized the importance of maintaining unity in the face of external provocations.
"Once again, I call on all Indonesians to stay united. Differences should not become a source of conflict. That is exactly what foreign powers hope for," he said.
Prabowo noted that Indonesia’s long history of colonization and foreign interference reflects a recurring effort to create division.
He claimed that some foreign countries continue to fund non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to incite horizontal conflicts within the country.
“They came for hundreds of years, and they still provoke us. With money, they fund NGOs to incite division,” he remarked.
However, the president clarified that his comments were not meant to spread hostility toward other nations but to raise awareness and encourage vigilance against manipulation.
“I am not urging Indonesians to distrust other countries. But we must not allow ourselves to be manipulated,” he said.
Prabowo also invoked the spirit of Indonesia’s founding leaders as a source of guidance in navigating current global challenges.
“We recall what our founding fathers said: the Indonesian people must stand on their own feet,” he affirmed.
