Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia plans to submit a list of preferred tariffs for products imported from the United States before the second round of negotiations on the US reciprocal tariff policy in June 2025.

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, conveyed this during a meeting with US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer on the sidelines of the OECD 2025 Ministerial Council Meeting in Paris, France, on Tuesday.

"We are committed to providing a list of preferred tariffs for US commodities before the second round of negotiations, scheduled for June 2025 in Washington, D.C.," he said, as per a statement received from his office in Jakarta.

He also highlighted Indonesia's determination to secure a decisive tariff deal by July this year.

While extending his appreciation for the US government's positive responses to Indonesia's proposals, Hartarto underlined that the Indonesian government has taken several strategic measures as a follow-up to the bilateral tariff talks held in the US last April.

These measures have included studying a provisional agreement draft proposed by Washington.

He then underscored Indonesia's efforts to increase the volume of US agricultural and energy imports to pave the way for a more favorable balance of trade between the two countries.

The minister also emphasized the importance of Indonesia and the US fostering constructive and result-oriented collaboration to reach fair and mutually beneficial trade agreements.

"We hope that both countries share the good intention of identifying mutually beneficial solutions, which has manifested in past trade agreements," he said.

He stressed that Indonesia is ready to engage in continuous and open dialogues to address tariff and non-tariff obstacles and key issues concerning digital trade, rules of origin, and economic security.

"A well-calculated approach is expected to create avenues for both countries to build a robust and lasting partnership," he added.
