Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia's National Alms Agency (Baznas) distributed qurban (sacrificial) meat for Eid al-Adha 1446 Hijri in Bantargebang, Bekasi, West Java, partnering with Baznas' Livestock Center in Cimande, Bogor, as the site for animal slaughter.

“We conducted the slaughter at our supervised livestock center, as the animals are healthy and meet standardized criteria. God willing, the meat distributed to Bantargebang residents will remain in good condition,” Baznas RI’s Commissioner for Distribution and Empowerment Saidah Sakwan noted in a statement here Saturday.

She elaborated that Bantargebang was selected as a distribution location because it remains an area with high needs, particularly in terms of access to animal protein sources.

“This is not the first time we have distributed here. The area aligns with the criteria for zakat and alms recipients. We witnessed firsthand that residents here are still in great need of qurban meat,” she remarked.

Saidah noted that the meat distribution, part of the Baznas Kurban Berkah (Blessed Qurban) program, aims not only to improve nutrition but also serves as a form of zakat outreach.

“Through qurban distribution, we aim to show that zakat and alms from our donors truly reach those in need, are well-targeted, and bring real benefits,” she remarked.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chair of the Baznas Kurban Berkah Committee Dian Anita stated that the distribution process remained well-coordinated, ensuring fair and proportional allocation.

"Nutrition is one of the key indicators of public welfare. Therefore, we strive to be present through food assistance—both during festive occasions and on regular days,” she remarked.

Through this initiative, Dian expressed hope that the qurban meat can provide tangible benefits to those eligible to receive qurban meat (Mustahik) during the Eid al-Adha holiday.
