The deputy speaker of DPR’s Commission I noted that President Prabowo has consistently elevated Indonesia’s international image through clear and concise foreign policy statements and a promising leadership vision.
“I believe it is crucial for Indonesia to emerge as a balancing force and a benchmark for global powers,” Laksono stated when contacted in Jakarta on Monday.
He affirmed that the president’s attendance at the high-level meeting would help reaffirm Indonesia’s commitment to its non-aligned stance while strengthening its image as a dependable mediator in global affairs.
“This aligns with Indonesia’s ‘free and active’ foreign policy,” he emphasized.
Laksono noted that the G7 Summit offers an opportunity for the head of state to expand diplomatic networks, promote national interests, and present Indonesia’s stance on major international issues.
As the leader of Southeast Asia’s largest economy, he remarked that President Prabowo should utilize this opportunity to boost investment appeal, advocate for a fairer global trade system, and strengthen Indonesia’s role in global supply chains and on issues of energy and sustainability.

The parliamentarian also praised the president for reinforcing Indonesia’s geopolitical leverage, including through the country’s recent accession to the BRICS economic bloc.
Earlier, President Prabowo received an official invitation to attend as a special guest the upcoming event of the G7, which comprises the world's seven largest economies—Italy, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States—alongside the European Union.
Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya shared this information through the Presidential Secretariat in Jakarta on Saturday (June 7).
"In addition to the official written invitation, President Prabowo was invited to attend as a guest of honor at the G7 Summit directly by Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney via telephone yesterday," the statement said.
