During a meeting with representatives from the Japan Indonesia Association (JAPINDA) in Tokyo, Japan, on Monday (June 9), she reinforced Indonesia's steadfast commitment to a rules-based global trade system.
In an official statement received in Jakarta on Tuesday, Esti emphasized that the country would always push for constructive dialogue with relevant parties to identify solutions to trade challenges.
"At the national level, we are striving to enhance transparency, ensure regulatory certainty, drive market diversification, and strengthen domestic market resilience. Hence, we would like to invite Japanese business actors to cooperate in navigating this challenging time," she remarked.
The deputy minister emphasized that President Prabowo Subianto, as outlined in his eight primary missions collectively called the Asta Cita, is driving the government to ensure that Indonesia's trade policies are simplified and aligned with multilateralism, market diversification, and the deepening of foreign exchange reserves.
She also spoke highly of JAPINDA, highlighting its significant contribution to increasing the flow of capital into Indonesia.
"We invite JAPINDA to continue maintaining sectoral cooperation in economic development, with a special focus on automotive, energy, agriculture, health, education, and infrastructure," she stated.
Meanwhile, JAPINDA's Senior Executive Director, Norio Yamazaki, highlighted that his organization remains committed to elevating Indonesia-Japan ties through joint initiatives, such as seminars, a monthly publication about Indonesia, Indonesian language courses, and reciprocal visits.
"These activities are expected to help strengthen ties between Indonesia and Japan across various vital sectors in addition to the economy. This way, we can expect to see significant benefits for both nations," he remarked.
