In the ministry's statement received here on Tuesday, Mu'ti stressed that the revitalization program should not be viewed merely as physical infrastructure development but as a foundation for nurturing students' character, competence, and creativity.
“This program must be implemented with integrity and dedication. Every rupiah of the state budget is a trust that must be accounted for transparently," the minister stated.
Starting in 2025, school revitalization will be implemented through a self-management mechanism, known as swakelola, by schools themselves, with improved governance and increased community participation.
“This mechanism is expected to promote efficiency, transparency, and local empowerment through labor absorption and the use of local building materials,” he remarked.
On the same occasion, the ministry's Director General of Early Childhood, Primary, and Secondary Education, Gogot Suharwoto, stated that the 2025 revitalization program targets 10,440 schools across Indonesia.
These include early childhood education centers (PAUD), elementary and junior high schools, senior high schools and vocational high schools (SMA/SMK), community learning centers (SKB/PKBM), and special needs schools (SLB).
“Based on data validation with the Education Quality Assurance Center (BPMP), a total of 9,404 schools have been identified as potential (program) recipients. Of these, 8,406 have met the requirements to sign the first phase of agreements,” Suharwoto explained.
The remaining around one thousand schools are still completing their data and will be included in the next phase.
The school revitalization program is part of the government’s constitutional mandate to educate the nation and develop quality human resources and is included in President Prabowo Subianto’s Asta Cita missions.
