"This program is a guarantee for migrant workers to work safely and in a structured manner, according to agreed standards," director general of placements at the ministry, Ahnas, said, according to a statement issued by the ministry here on Tuesday.
Ahnas said another 234 workers were given pre-departure orientation (OPP) before being sent to South Korea.
"On this very important momentum, I congratulate and express my highest appreciation to all of you. We can see your extraordinary enthusiasm and spirit," he said during the send-off ceremony at the Center for the Development of Quality Assurance for Vocational Education in the Business and Tourism Sector (BBPPMPV BISPAR), Depok, on Tuesday.
He also emphasized the importance of thorough preparation, especially in mastering the Korean language.
"Preparation must be done starting now. Your understanding of the language must be deepened so that when you work in that country, you will not experience difficulties in communicating," he said.
Ahnas also urged migrant workers to take advantage of the opportunity to work in South Korea to learn and develop further, including by taking courses at Terbuka University in that country.
"You must maintain a good image of Indonesia wherever you are because your success will make it easier for other Indonesian migrant workers to work in that country. After returning home, you can open a business or continue your higher targets," he added.
He also reminded migrant workers to remain enthusiastic and determined, and ask for prayers and blessings from their parents.
"This is part of your life journey. May your journey be safe, your work successful, and (you) return to Indonesia with new spirit and proud achievements," he said.
The KP2MI expressed the hope the program would continue to help Indonesians to find work overseas, while maintaining Indonesia's reputation as a reliable and quality migrant worker sending country.
