"This afternoon, Wednesday, June 11, 2025, I, Prabowo Subianto, President of the Republic of Indonesia, hereby inaugurate the Unhan Bhinneka Tunggal Ika Campus," he declared at the inauguration ceremony, which was followed on the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube channel.
The inauguration was also attended by the sixth Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) and Minister of Defense, Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin.
At the event, Prabowo lauded SBY for founding the university and described the institution as part of a long-term vision to prepare future national leaders.
He expressed the hope that Unhan will not only produce leaders in defense but also contribute broadly to national development.
Prabowo also highlighted the importance of mastering science and technology, stating that national progress and poverty alleviation can only be achieved through excellence in these two areas.
He then called for the institution to build a fresh academic culture that upholds patriotic values.
He also stressed the values of humility and courage in leadership. In addition, leaders must be willing to admit their weaknesses, he said.
"That is the characteristic of a good leader. Never be afraid of challenges, never be afraid to admit our shortcomings. Acknowledging our weaknesses means we are ready to overcome them," Prabowo added.
The new campus is located on an 18.3-hectare site and is equipped with a range of facilities, including laboratories, classrooms, dormitories for males and females, and a water management system.
It also has other facilities such as a rectorate building, a library, office spaces, a modern dining hall, green open areas, a retention pond, and housing for lecturers.
The development of the campus aligns with the national agenda to strengthen nation-building and improve the quality of human resources.
