"We are applying high-level standards. For our undergraduate programs, we use standards similar to those adopted by renowned global universities," he remarked during a graduation ceremony in Bogor District, West Java, on Saturday.
Prabowo underscored that the alumni of the university are Indonesia's brightest talents who hail from various regions while noting that they had undergone a fair selection process before being admitted to the college.
He remarked that Unhan has always provided equal opportunities for everyone keen on obtaining a scholarship to study under its banner, regardless of their financial capacity or religious background.
"This university is committed to selecting students without considering their parents' financial status, religion, ethnicity, or other backgrounds. We opened undergraduate programs with the sole objective of selecting the nation's best sons and daughters," he said.
Prabowo, who is set to assume the presidency on October 20 this year, also expressed his appreciation to Unhan Rector Lt. Gen. Jonni Mahroza and former rectors for their dedication to making the university a quality educational institution.
He expressed belief that Unhan was founded as a result of the Indonesian nation's recognition of the importance of producing more talent proficient in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
"Our survival as a nation does and will depend on the mastery of science and technology," he emphasized.
In his speech, he also mentioned that President Joko Widodo instructed him to help establish educational facilities in Indonesia's frontier regions, such as Papua.
