Jokowi made the statement on Wednesday in response to Prabowo’s eagerness, as he currently serves as defense minister, to work from the future capital city.
Regarding Prabowo's plan to expedite the development of buildings for national legislative bodies, the Supreme Court (MA), and the Constitutional Court (MK), Jokowi noted that his successor would have all the authority required to do so after the presidential inauguration on October 20.
On Monday, Prabowo vowed to lead his administration to ensure the timely completion of the future capital city’s development.
He expressed optimism that Nusantara could reach a functional level in around five years, even though the master plan projects that the city's development will take decades to complete.
"I am optimistic it will function very well in four to five years," he said. "I am not an engineering expert, but I see the potential."
Prabowo believes that the development of offices dedicated to legislative bodies, MA, and MK would play a key role in enhancing the feasibility of Nusantara.
"Once such offices are built, it is safe to say that the future seat of government can operate, in principle. We will not need to wait for other offices, as I believe we can build them later," he pointed out.
