Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Defense confirmed that Israel would not block Indonesia from delivering aid to war victims in Gaza.

The ministry's Secretary General, Lieutenant General Tri Budi Utomo, said on Wednesday that Israel is reportedly providing access to several parties, including Indonesia, to send logistical assistance to Gaza.

"From August 1 to August 24, Israel is allowing aid to enter," he stated at the send-off of logistical assistance by the Indonesian Defense Forces (TNI) to Gaza at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base in Jakarta.

Utomo did not elaborate on the reason for Israel's decision to allow aid deliveries.

On Wednesday, the Indonesian government sent 800 tons of assistance, including food, medicines, clothing, and other essential items for Palestinians in Gaza.

According to Utomo, the aid will be delivered by the Indonesian Air Force's Hercules C-130 aircraft using the air drop method, in which the supplies will be dropped from the plane to designated points in Gaza.

He assured that the drop zones are safe and suitable for delivering the logistics, noting that the TNI had coordinated with the Jordanian military to ensure their security.

"We hope this assistance will be useful for the people in Gaza," he said.

Utomo noted that the aid delivery is part of Indonesia's peace mission and is not the first of its kind; the TNI has previously delivered logistical aid to several locations in Gaza using the same method.

The Jordanian military will provide the exact coordinates for the air drops. Based on information received by the TNI, there are 10 safe points in Gaza for aid delivery.

“The locations have been inspected, cleared, and deemed safe. They have prepared the air drop points properly," Utomo said.
