Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia and Singapore held the 15th Six Bilateral Economic Working Groups Ministerial Meeting (6WG MM) to evaluate progress in cooperation across six strategic sectors.

The meeting was chaired by Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, along with Singapore’s Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) and Minister for Trade and Industry Gan Kim Yong, according to the ministry's statement here on Monday.

The 6WG is an economic platform between Singapore and Indonesia to advance economic cooperation in the Batam, Bintan and Karimun (BBK) region and other special economic zones, investments, manpower, transport, agribusiness and tourism.

"Indonesia-Singapore cooperation significantly impacts the economies of both countries and the region, as well as influencing the global economy. Therefore, it must be continuously enhanced and its relevance maintained amid global challenges," Hartarto noted in the statement.

Hartarto and Gan agreed that Indonesia and Singapore should maintain mutually complementary economic relations based on shared interests, trust, and geographical proximity.

Hartarto emphasized that in an increasingly complex geo-economic landscape, the Indonesia-Singapore partnership becomes ever more crucial and must be strengthened accordingly.

In discussions on developing the Batam, Bintan, and Karimun zones, both sides expressed appreciation for policies facilitating visa ease and the development of a Data Center in Nongsa Digital Park.

To boost investment, Indonesia and Singapore agreed to focus on strengthening infrastructure and industrial services, particularly in the clean energy, renewable energy, energy efficiency, electric vehicles, and green financing sectors.

The meeting also highlighted progress in collaborations in electricity trade and Carbon Capture Storage (CCS), supporting both countries' efforts toward sustainable economic growth.

Hartarto and Gan also underlined the importance of strengthening cooperation to enhance human resource capacity through The Tech-talent and Tech:X programs.

Both leaders also welcomed increased air connectivity and reaffirmed their commitment to deepen business links between Singapore and Indonesia to boost trade, investment, and people-to-people connections.
