"They are the backbone of national communication. I am here in person to express my appreciation because their work is rarely seen, but the results are felt every day," Hafid noted in an official statement received in Jakarta on Tuesday.
The minister emphasized that the monitoring hall plays a crucial role in maintaining communication stability, especially during critical periods, such as the Eid homecoming.
According to Hafid, the decline in traffic accidents this year is also a result of collaboration involving the monitoring hall.
"The number of accidents has significantly decreased compared to last year. This is a result of collective efforts, including the work of our colleagues at monitoring halls in various regions," she affirmed.
Furthermore, the minister asserted that the monitoring hall staff is actively involved in identifying and eradicating instances of spectrum misuse.
One example is the successful uncovering of fake base transceiver station cases, which became rampant ahead of Eid and subsequently addressed by the monitoring hall team in collaboration with the Directorate General of Digital Infrastructure.
"Before Eid, we found many scams, and the team immediately went down to inspect and monitor unauthorized signals. Finally, with the police, we successfully apprehended the perpetrators," Hafid stated.
She further revealed that the monitoring hall in Makassar is not just a local post but monitors two-thirds of Eastern Indonesia, making it a crucial point in the national monitoring network.
With great respect, she reiterated that the monitoring hall is the backbone of national communication.
Although not visible to the public, the monitoring hall operates 24 hours a day, overseeing various types of frequency spectra used by cellular operators, broadcasting, and aviation.
"Today, we express our appreciation to all staff of monitoring halls across Indonesia. However, physically, we are present at the monitoring hall in South Sulawesi because this is where much of the work is done, which is not widely known, but continuously monitors how these frequencies are regulated," she concluded.
