During the trials, scheduled over three days starting June 18, 2025, a total of 959.4 liters of milk produced by cooperatives will be distributed to 2,300 students across Bandung and West Bandung districts in West Java province.
“We would like to emphasize that the pasteurized milk sourced from cooperatives offers better nutritional content,” the ministry’s deputy for cooperatives business development, Panel Barus, said after reviewing the trial in Bandung on Wednesday.
He noted that, unlike the first phase, which used dispensers, the current trial is using recyclable packaging to improve efficiency.
Barus further highlighted that the distribution of pasteurized milk under the MBG program could directly support the national milk industry and empower cooperatives.
He called on milk producers in East Java, Central Java, and West Java to contribute to the program and urged the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) to prioritize milk procurement from cooperatives.
He added that trial recipients expressed joy at receiving the milk and conveyed their hope that the initiative would continue.
Meysya, a junior high school student from West Bandung, praised the milk, saying she hoped it would be included as a permanent item on the MBG menu.
“Pasteurized milk tastes different, yet more refreshing,” she remarked.
Earlier, Cooperatives Minister Budi Arie Setiadi informed that the first trial phase, launched in February 2025, targeted 10,375 students in 27 schools across Jakarta, West Java, and East Java. To meet the target, five cooperatives were tasked with producing a total of 2,348 liters of milk.
“Pasteurized milk is more affordable but still high in nutrition, as it contains proteins, minerals, and vitamins needed for children’s growth,” he said on February 25.
