“Flights of several airlines that were previously canceled due to the eruption are gradually resuming,” said the airport’s Head of Communication and Legal Division, Gede Eka Sandi Asmadi.
On Wednesday (June 18), more than 80 international and domestic flights were canceled after another eruption from Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki.
Since Wednesday night, domestic flights on routes such as Cengkareng–Labuan Bajo and Semarang have returned to normal operations, Asmadi confirmed.
This was followed by the resumption of international flights to destinations including Perth, Sydney, Adelaide, Melbourne, and Singapore on Thursday morning, he added.
“Flights that were canceled yesterday are arriving and departing today,” Asmadi continued.
As of Wednesday afternoon, 66 international and 21 domestic flights — both arrivals and departures — had been canceled.
The eruption disrupted travel for passengers on routes to and from Adelaide, Auckland, Brisbane, New Delhi, Darwin, Kuala Lumpur, Melbourne, Gold Coast, Perth, Pudong, Singapore, Sydney, and Ho Chi Minh City.
However, affected flights have resumed, including services by Malaysia Airlines (Kuala Lumpur route), Virgin Australia (Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne), Jetstar (Melbourne, Sydney, Darwin), Vietnam Airlines (Ho Chi Minh), Singapore Airlines (Singapore), Juneyao Airlines (Pudong), and Malindo Air (Kuala Lumpur–Denpasar–Perth).
Asmadi assured that all airport operations, including passenger departures and arrivals, have been running smoothly and in an orderly manner.
“We urge passengers to reconfirm their flight schedules with their respective airlines,” he reminded.
Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki erupted seven times between June 17–18, 2025, according to the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG).
Visual observations reported volcanic ash columns reaching up to 10,000 meters, spreading in multiple directions. The PVMBG has raised the volcano's status to Level IV (Alert).
