"Cross-sector collaboration is key to driving the growth of an inclusive and sustainable creative ecosystem, as this aligns with the spirit of the Ministry of Creative Economy," Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene Umar stated during a meeting with Riot Games developers in Jakarta on Thursday.
Collaboration with game developers strengthens Indonesia's position as a hub for global creative economic growth. The deputy minister emphasized the importance of creating programs that strengthen connectivity between games and other creative subsectors such as music, film, illustration, and local intellectual property (IP).

This collaboration is part of Kemenekraf’s commitment to reinforcing Indonesia's position as "the new engine of growth" by boosting the competitiveness of the gaming sector, creating quality jobs, and contributing to the global creative economy.
Riot Games Indonesia Country Manager Resha Adi Pradipta welcomed the opportunity for collaboration with the Ministry of Creative Economy, noting that many ideas and inspirations can be developed together, especially in creating spaces for collaboration to enhance Indonesia’s competitiveness on the international stage.
“We want to support the growth of a healthy ecosystem in Indonesia. One of the ways is by opening cooperation channels to support the development of local IPs and organizing global-scale gaming events. Indonesia has enormous potential to host international e-sports events,” Resha remarked.
According to data from the Ministry of Creative Economy, Indonesia’s gaming industry has a significant market value of US$2 billion, with about 148 million active gamers, making it the largest gaming market in Southeast Asia, ranked fourth in Asia and 15th globally.
The government will encourage the development of the gaming industry, particularly through various forms of support and policies, including protecting the intellectual property of developers to prevent piracy, assisting with marketing and production, and providing local government infrastructure for game developer hubs.
Additional support for young game developers includes providing opportunities to monetize their assets and generate income, as well as collaborating with the Financial Services Authority (OJK) to simplify funding for creators.
