Bogor, West Java (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Immigration and Corrections has organized the 2025 Satya Dharma Bhakti Correctional Scouting Camp at Cibinong Prison, Bogor district, West Java, with the goal of empowering inmates.

Minister of Immigration and Corrections, Agus Andrianto, said that the camp, which is being held from June 23–25, 2025, is themed “Resilient in Trials, Growing through Rehabilitation.”

He expressed the hope that the activity would help reintroduce scouting values among inmates.

Through the event, his ministry is hoping to revive the spirit of scouting, as embodied in the 10 principles of scouting. “This serves as a foundation and guideline for counselors in mentoring inmates,” he added.

He informed that the scouting camp participants were selected from 531 correctional technical units across Indonesia.

In addition to scouting activities, inmates who participate in various positive programs will also be given recognition.

“We will also award additional remissions for inmates actively engaged in constructive activities,” he added.

According to Andrianto, the initiative is part of efforts to address overcrowding in correctional facilities, which has now reached nearly 100 percent, with prisoner numbers rising from 140 thousand to 179 thousand.

To tackle the overcapacity issue, 13 new prisons are currently being constructed, including a super-maximum security facility in Nusakambangan and 12 others across regions, he said.

He further informed that an ongoing asset swap between Cipinang and Salemba facilities has run into delays due to the pending transfer of asset authority from the previous Ministry of Law and Human Rights to the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections.

“We have coordinated with the Minister of Forestry regarding alternative locations for new prisons, including two sites in Banten, one on Pulau Rakit in Indramayu, and one in South Kalimantan,” he said.
