“NPK Nitrat is a fertilizer with a high content of nitrate-based nitrogen. This type of fertilizer offers numerous advantages,” Rangga, a member of Pupuk Kujang’s research team, said in a statement issued in Karawang, West Java, on Monday.
The fertilizer has a 15-13-18 nutrient composition, with 5 percent nitrate nitrogen (N-NO3) content, and is enriched with essential micronutrients. It is available in green-colored granules, packed in 20-kilogram and 2-kilogram bags.
According to Rangga, the nitrate compounds in the fertilizer are absorbed more quickly by plant roots, along with cation nutrients such as potassium, magnesium, calcium, iron, copper, and zinc, all of which are crucial to boost crop yield and quality.
Farmers participating in the demo plots have already experienced the benefits of using NPK Nitrat firsthand.

They have recorded a 6-percent increase in chili production and a 9-percent increase in onion yields. Additionally, their profits from chili cultivation have risen by 4.9 percent and onion cultivation by 9.5 percent.
Kamino, a red onion farmer from Kersana sub-district in Brebes, West Java, shared his positive experience with NPK Nitrat fertilizer.
“After using Pupuk Kujang’s NPK Nitrat, my onions became more resistant to extreme weather and less prone to pests,” he said. “The bulbs are also larger and redder, and most importantly, my production increased by 9 percent.”
PT Pupuk Kujang president director Maryono expressed strong optimism about the product’s potential.
“NPK Nitrat is a major breakthrough we present as a solution for horticultural farmers, especially those growing onions and chilies. This fertilizer is designed to deliver optimal nutrients to plants, significantly improving both the quality and quantity of harvests,” he said.
He added that Pupuk Kujang is proud to introduce this locally developed product, which is expected to be a game-changer in the agricultural sector.
The company is targeting the horticultural market -- especially red onion and chili farming -- by positioning NPK Nitrat as a complete-formula nitrate fertilizer.
PT Pupuk Kujang is a state-owned enterprise (SOE) engaged in the fertilizer industry, particularly urea-based fertilizers. The company is a subsidiary of PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero) and operates two urea production plants in Cikampek, West Java.
