Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto convened a meeting on Monday with cabinet ministers responsible for political and security affairs to discuss global developments and ways to mitigate their effects.

"The meeting discussed the current global conditions and its effects on Indonesia, as well as the necessary strategic steps," Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya stated, as published by the Cabinet Secretariat's Instagram account on Monday.

Cabinet ministers attending the meeting were Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs Budi Gunawan, Foreign Minister Sugiono, Home Minister Tito Karnavian, Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, Communications and Digital Minister Meutya Hafid, and State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi.

Also in attendance were Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, Indonesian Defense Forces (TNI) Commander General Agus Subiyanto, Attorney General S. T. Burhanuddin, and National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) Head Nugroho Sulistyo.

The round-table meeting was organized at Prabowo's private residence in Garuda Yaksa, Hambalang, Bogor District, West Java.

The meeting took place amid heightened tensions between Iran and Israel, which escalated into war on June 13 after Israel conducted unprovoked airstrikes on Iran, including its nuclear and military facilities, which prompted Tehran to launch counter-offensives.

The war escalated further after the US military on Saturday launched strikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities in an operation President Donald Trump described as a "very successful attack."

In response, Tehran launched missiles at the US Al Udeid Airbase in Qatar on Monday evening local time. On Sunday (June 22), the Iranian parliament also approved a motion to close the Hormuz Strait to maritime activities, pending a decision from the higher security authority.
