As an example, he cited the President’s speech at the recent St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) 2025 in Russia, where he reaffirmed Indonesia’s non-aligned stance and clarified his absence from the G7 Summit in Canada.
Speaking to the press at the Parliamentary Complex in Jakarta on Wednesday, Muzani said that Prabowo successfully leveraged the international event to draw global attention to Indonesia’s position.
“As a great nation, we can be proud of our country’s globally recognized contributions to building world peace,” he emphasized.
Regarding the ongoing war between Iran and Israel, the legislator said that Prabowo has made it clear that his government remains committed to Indonesia’s independent and active foreign policy doctrine and supports a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
“And he continues to follow developments to ensure that our country remains non-aligned,” he added.
He then urged the government not to waver in its efforts to realize and maintain world peace, noting that some countries have begun shifting from dialogue to force in international relations.
“Diplomacy and dialogue are the best means to resolve problems and differences among nations,” he said.
Earlier, at the SPIEF on June 20, President Prabowo dismissed speculation that his presence at the forum signaled a particular political alignment in light of his absence from the G7 Summit in Canada.
He said that the Indonesian government received the 2025 SPIEF invitation earlier and that he joined the event to honor the invite.
“I had already committed to attending this forum before receiving the invitation to the G7 Summit. That is the only reason (why I did not attend the summit),” he explained.
He then reaffirmed that Indonesia is committed to its non-aligned geopolitical stance.
“Indonesia has always been non-aligned. We respect all nations. Our foreign policy is simple: a thousand friends are too few, but one enemy is too many,” he said.
