"We estimate that two million workers can be absorbed by this cooperative project," he remarked in Jakarta on Wednesday.
Hasan explained that the cooperative will carry out multiple economic functions, including food distribution, health services, household energy, and the provision of basic necessities, all managed independently and sustainably by village communities.
As of May 30, 2025, around 80 thousand Red and White Cooperatives have been established throughout the country, he noted.
Of the total, 65 thousand have been legalized and are targeted for completion by the end of June 2025.
In addition, the government has prepared a mock-up of 80 cooperative units as a pilot project, which will be inaugurated by President Prabowo Subianto.
The minister remarked that those 80 thousand cooperatives across Indonesia can help create an inclusive people's economic ecosystem and strengthen social resilience by empowering human resources at the village level.
The inauguration of the Red and White Cooperative is scheduled for July 19, 2025, by President Prabowo Subianto.
Earlier, Deputy for Communication Material and Information of the Presidential Communication Office (PCO), Isra Ramli, stated that the cooperative was a solution to shorten the long distribution chain and create more job offers.
Ramli explained that each cooperative would have at least three core administrators elected by members: a chairman, secretary, and treasurer.
Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Cooperatives Ferry Juliantono stated that the Red and White Cooperative would focus on building a business ecosystem and digitalization.
"Red and White Village Cooperative shows that the democratic process and mutual cooperation are in accordance with the principles of cooperatives, as seen in village deliberations throughout Indonesia," he remarked in early June.
