Bojonegoro (ANTARA) - Deputy Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Yuliot Tanjung stated that the Indonesian government is currently evaluating an offer from Russia to supply oil and liquefied natural gas (LNG) to the country.

“It will be evaluated, as we aim to diversify our imports from multiple countries. We will review the consistency of supply—this is our first priority,” Yuliot said in Bojonegoro, East Java, on Thursday.

He added that other key considerations include pricing and compatibility with Indonesia’s existing domestic refineries.

“This is still under review, as oil and gas fields have different specifications. Our team is currently discussing it,” he explained.

The deputy minister also confirmed that the government has not yet set a timeline for finalizing potential imports from Russia.

Last week, during a joint press statement with President Prabowo Subianto at the St. Petersburg State Palace, Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed his country’s readiness to expand energy exports to Indonesia.

“Russian companies are working effectively in Indonesia. We are ready to increase the supply of oil and LNG to the Indonesian market,” Putin stated.

He also highlighted the ongoing cooperation between Rosneft and Pertamina in the construction of refinery and petrochemical facilities in East Java, describing it as an example of the strong economic partnership between the two countries in the energy sector.
