Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Minister of Agriculture Sudaryono was elected chairperson of the Indonesian Farmers Association (HKTI) after previous chairpersons Moeldoko and Fadli Zon agreed to his selection, bringing an end to the dualism in management.

At the 10th National Conference of HKTI and the Indonesian Farmers Congress held at the Agriculture Ministry in Jakarta, Sudaryono emphasized his commitment to resolving the dualism that has long divided the farmers' organization.

"During this national conference, HKTI will unite into one. There will no longer be dualism," Sudaryono noted in an official statement received in Jakarta, Thursday (June 26).

Sudaryono, who was the sole candidate, was elected by acclamation on Wednesday (June 25) as Chairperson of the National Leadership Council (DPN) of HKTI for the 2025-2030 period.

According to Sudaryono, this election was a milestone for the HKTI management, which previously operated independently, as it will now be unified from the central level down to the provincial, district, and sub-district levels.

As a figure who was born and raised in a farming family, Sudaryono expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him by various groups.

He also expressed his commitment to continue advancing the national agriculture sector and realizing food self-sufficiency, which is a priority program of Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto.

Sudaryono further stated that his role as chairperson of HKTI is an opportunity to provide the greatest possible benefits to both the farming community and the country.

He emphasized that the welfare of farmers is the key to realizing national food security.

"This is access to how to provide great benefits to farmers and the country," he stated.

He explained that if farmers are content, their productivity increases, leading to their prosperity. When productivity is high, the country also benefits from sufficient food reserves, reducing the need for imports and stimulating the economy.

Therefore, he stressed that the first path for all HKTI administrators is to unite their vision without dwelling on the past.
