“Hotels along the route are fully booked, and MSMEs are thriving,” Anung stated on Sunday.
The governor welcomed the strong public enthusiasm for the event, which drew more than 31,000 participants from Indonesia and 51 other countries.
The city has designated JAKIM 2025 as a key sports tourism event aimed at attracting both domestic and international runners. Anung expressed optimism that businesses, especially in hospitality and retail, would continue to benefit from the momentum.
The marathon featured three race categories: a 10K run, a 21.09-kilometer half marathon, and a 42.19-kilometer full marathon, with routes passing several iconic landmarks in Jakarta, including the National Monument (Monas) as its starting point.
The event was supported by state-owned Bank Tabungan Negara (BTN) as its principal sponsor.
To accommodate the race, Jakarta’s Transportation Office closed 32 roads from 3:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Sunday.
“We used barricades, water barriers, and traffic cones to block the roads,” said Transportation Office Head Syafrin Liputo on Saturday.
Some of the affected roads included Medan Merdeka Barat, Thamrin, and Sudirman in Central Jakarta, as well as parts of Gatot Subroto in South Jakarta.
Meanwhile, to reduce traffic congestion, state railway company KAI announced that 11 intercity trains scheduled to stop at Gambir Station — near Monas — would instead terminate at Jatinegara Station in East Jakarta.
