Batu, E Java (ANTARA) - Deputy Minister of Tourism Ni Luh Puspa has urged all tourist attraction managers and regional governments in Indonesia to ensure the safety of tourists visiting tourist destinations as the safety of tourists can affect the tourism image of a region or country.

"We want to ensure that every tourist attraction pays attention to the security, comfort, and most importantly, the safety of tourists," she said in Batu, East Java, on Saturday.

According to her, the safety of tourists is a priority that can affect the tourism image of a region or country.

"This applies to both man-made and natural attractions," she added.

She noted that if safety can be guaranteed, the number of both domestic and foreign tourists will increase. Moreover, during the current school holiday, visitors to tourist attractions are likely to be predominantly children.

To this end, she underlined that ensuring safe and comfortable tourism is a shared responsibility of all stakeholders in districts and cities.

"The Minister of Tourism has issued a circular asking all regional governments and tourist attraction managers to pay attention to the safety and comfort of child tourists," Puspa affirmed.

During her visit to Batu, the deputy minister monitored the technical operations of the attractions at Jatim Park 1 and Jatim Park 2.

She also discussed several issues with the managers, including efforts to maintain public trust in domestic tourism by providing a sense of safety and comfort to all visitors.

"We want to encourage Jatim Park to get global recognition, at least to become a major attraction in Asia," she remarked.

Furthermore, she expressed hope that Jatim Park managers can provide ticket deals to attract visitors.

Puspa also stated that the ministry is optimistic that the school holiday could boost visits by domestic and foreign tourists.
