Karawang, West Java (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto emphasized that building a nation is a long, demanding journey that requires perseverance and sacrifice.

“Nation-building is a long march,” he said at the groundbreaking ceremony for the Integrated Electric Vehicle (EV) Battery Industry Ecosystem project in Karawang on Sunday.

He noted that every country follows its own path, citing China as an example of a nation that endured a difficult road to development.

Indonesia, too, has faced a prolonged struggle—from its fight for independence to realizing the ideals of justice, prosperity, and freedom from poverty and hunger, Prabowo said.

“These goals can only be achieved if a nation wisely manages the blessings given by the Almighty,” he stressed.

Prabowo underscored the importance of accelerating government programs, particularly industrial downstreaming, which he described as a key part of Indonesia’s economic transformation.

The Karawang EV battery project represents a significant breakthrough in the development of renewable and environmentally friendly energy, aligned with global sustainability goals.

The ceremony was attended by several high-ranking officials, including Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia, Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, State-Owned Enterprises Minister Erick Thohir, and Chinese Ambassador Wang Lutong.

The 5.9 billion US dollars (95 trillion rupiah) project spans 3,023 hectares and is expected to generate up to 8,000 jobs and support 18 infrastructure projects, including a multifunctional port.
