Jakarta (ANTARA) - Foreign Affairs Minister Sugiono stated that 97 Indonesian citizens (WNI) from Iran and 26 others from Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, and Arabah have been evacuated.

The minister explained that the evacuation process, conducted through Azerbaijan, was coordinated by the Indonesian Embassies (KBRI) in Teheran, Iran, and Amman, Jordan.

"We will continue the process of evacuating citizens from these areas," Sugiono stated at the parliament complex, Jakarta, on Monday.

He noted that there were 386 WNI in Iran.

In addition to those already evacuated, he noted that some WNI in Iran have chosen to remain in the country.

During the current ceasefire, he expressed hope that Indonesian citizens still in conflict areas remain safe.

The minister also ensured that the evacuation process will continue.

"We have also formed a task force, a crisis response team, to anticipate if the situation worsens and it forces us to evacuate the citizens in those countries," he remarked.
