"Today, I received a visit from the governor and several regents and mayors from North Sumatra to support the success of the subsidized housing program for MBR and ASN in North Sumatra. I allocate an FLPP mortgage quota for 15 thousand subsidized housing units in North Sumatra," Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas Maruarar Sirait stated in Jakarta on Tuesday.
Sirait requested that North Sumatra Governor M. Bobby Afif Nasution help ensure the success of the three million housing program and the construction of subsidized houses for MBR and ASN.
The minister, along with North Sumatra Governor and Statistics Indonesia (BPS) Head Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti, signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Subsidized Housing Support for MBR and ASN in North Sumatra.
"The 2025 national subsidized housing quota is the largest in Indonesian history. It reaches 350 thousand subsidized houses as directed and supported by President Prabowo Subianto," he stated.
He expressed hope that the construction of subsidized housing would improve welfare and provide decent, affordable, and quality housing for the targeted community and ASN while opening up employment opportunities for the surrounding community.
He explained that building subsidized housing would have a multiplier effect. For instance, constructing one subsidized house in North Sumatra requires at least five workers, so building 15 thousand subsidized houses would require 75 thousand workers.
Additionally, businesses and building material industries around the subsidized housing development area would also benefit.
North Sumatra Governor M. Bobby Afif Nasution lauded the ministry's support in allocating 15 thousand subsidized houses in North Sumatra.
Moreover, the housing backlog in North Sumatra has reached 938 thousand units, accounting for 9.5 percent of the national total.
He noted that the FLPP mortgage scheme provides people easy access to house financing, including low down payments, affordable installments, and insurance.
"We will utilize North Sumatra Bank to distribute this FLPP mortgage," Nasution stated.
He plans to establish a monitoring and evaluation team to ensure the successful construction of quality subsidized housing.
