According to a press release from the Australian Embassy on Wednesday, the workshop served as a platform for biosecurity officials to identify collaborative activities of mutual benefit and to develop a multi-year work plan for both agencies.
“Strong biosecurity cooperation helps strengthen health, stability, and resilience — both within individual countries and across the region,” said Justine Saunders, Deputy Secretary for Biosecurity, Compliance, and Operations, who led the Australian delegation.
Saunders emphasized the importance of building relationships, deepening trust, and fostering meaningful collaboration between the two sides.
During the workshop, officials explored potential cooperation in areas such as plant and animal health, aquatic resources, and regulatory compliance — all aimed at advancing shared interests and strengthening inter-agency ties.
Biosecurity, along with agriculture, fisheries, and forestry, remains a key pillar of the broader Australia–Indonesia partnership.
As Indonesia continues to prioritize agricultural development and food security, collaboration with Australia is expected to play a vital role in supporting regional biosecurity and promoting resilient, sustainable trade.
