Jakarta (ANTARA) - Several Indonesian ambassadorial candidates shared varied reactions after participating in the fit and proper test with Commission I of the House of Representatives (DPR) here on Saturday.

Former coordinating minister Indroyono Soesilo, reportedly nominated as Indonesia's envoy to the United States, spoke briefly about his test. "Pray for me. The process is ongoing," Soesilo stated.

Meanwhile, Abdul Kadir Jailani, Director General for Asia-Pacific and African Affairs at the Foreign Ministry, said his views were sought on programs he would implement upon starting his ambassadorship.

"Our work programs are a manifestation of President Prabowo Subianto's government vision to achieve Astacita," Jailani, who is believed to be nominated as ambassador to Germany, remarked.

Although he did not elaborate on the specifics of his work programs, the diplomat noted that the protection of Indonesians and a free and active foreign policy were emphasized during his fit and proper test.

Moreover, Nurmala Kartini Pandjaitan Sjahrir, former envoy to Argentina, reported that her fit and proper test proceeded smoothly and that she presented improvements in bilateral relations in the economic sector and other strategic cooperation to the legislators.

Sjahrir said she highlighted downstreaming policies and manpower cooperation with Japan during the test. However, she did not deny reports about her candidacy as ambassador to Japan.

"In our cooperation, Japan has become more open and flexible, which allows us to benefit more from the transfer of technology and expertise to enhance our human resources' capability," she remarked.

A total of 24 ambassadorial candidates will undergo a fit and proper test by DPR's Commission I throughout this weekend, with 12 of them tested on Saturday, split between morning and afternoon sessions.

Candidates for ambassadorial posts in the United States, Germany, Singapore, Japan, Slovakia, and an envoy for the United Nations in New York joined the test in the morning session.

Meanwhile, ambassador candidates for the Netherlands, Vietnam, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Brazil, and the envoy for the United Nations in Geneva partook in the afternoon session.
