Jakarta (ANTARA) - House of Representatives (DPR) is resuming its fit and proper test for prospective ambassadors for some countries, ranging from Egypt to North Korea, in the Parliamentary complex here on Sunday.

Deputy Head of House of Representatives' Commission I Sukamta said that there are two sessions to the test, much like the day before (5/7). In each session, six candidates are tested, so there are a total of 12 candidates for the day.

Sukamta said that on the first day, 12 candidates took their test. Those who have taken the test on the first day do not need to participate in this one.

Among some countries which the candidates will be posted for are Egypt, North Korea, Oman, and Malaysia, he added.

In the test, the prospective ambassadors are required to explain and translate President Prabowo Subianto's vision and mission into the practical implementation of bilateral relations, he elaborated.

"How (good) they are at understanding the issue, how they will perform, and what they are aiming for. Something like that," he said.

He stressed that all candidates that the government recommended are equally important. Although there are classifications in diplomatic works, like ranks and strategic values, they are essentially equal.

"The most important thing is ensuring the (ambassadors) are a good fit for the destination countries," Sukamta stressed.

Deputy Head of House of Representatives' Commission I Dave Laksono said on Saturday (5/7) that there are no questions about special issues in the test, considering the ambassadors will be sent to various countries.

Laksono said that the government has given a list of recommendations for 24 allied countries and international organizations. However, it is not a fixed thing, and the House of Representatives can either accept or reject the suggestions.

He said that their decision depends on the skills of each candidate. However, he believed that the government picks the best people for each country.

Laksono opined that the government must have carefully considered and have their reasons for the prospective ambassadors they suggested, given the geopolitical situation at the moment is very dynamic.
