"This number exceeds the total population of Singapore," said Redy Hendra Gunawan, a special staff member at BGN, on Sunday.
Launched on January 6, the MBG program aims to reach 82 million beneficiaries nationwide.
To support the initiative, 1,873 kitchens — officially known as Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPGs) — are already in operation.
An additional 473 SPPG units are scheduled to open next week, surpassing BGN’s July target of 1,994 units, Gunawan added.
He said that with the expansion, the program has so far created nearly 100,000 jobs.
Around 10,000 micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), village-owned enterprises (Bumdes), and cooperatives are involved in supplying raw materials to the SPPG units.
Gunawan also said the BGN is expediting the verification process for SPPG partners, with around 4,000 still awaiting verification.
The agency hopes to meet its August target of 24 million beneficiaries and 8,000 operational SPPGs.
"We hope the National Nutrition Agency can continue operating these service units in accordance with the required standards," Gunawan said.
