Rio de Janeiro (ANTARA) - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto invited BRICS nations to intensify collaboration in addressing the climate crisis, especially by accelerating the transition to clean energy to mitigate its effects.

The president made this statement during the BRICS Summit Session on Environment, COP 30, and Global Health, which was attended by leaders and delegates of countries in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, on Monday.

"The president stated that Indonesia is profoundly affected by the impacts of climate change," Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Arrmanatha Nasir stated after accompanying President Prabowo at the meeting.

Nasir underlined that Indonesia remains committed to fighting climate change.

"Mr. President reaffirmed Indonesia's commitment to combating climate change and especially our efforts to implement clean energy," he remarked.

According to the deputy minister, several other countries at the session also expressed similar commitment to addressing issues regarding climate change.

The deputy minister further noted that beyond climate and environmental issues, President Prabowo also focused on global health concerns.

He stated that Indonesia expressed its support for the World Health Organization (WHO) in addressing global health challenges.

"Earlier, the president conveyed his commitment to continue assisting the WHO in global health," he remarked.
