In a press statement received here on Tuesday, the minister noted that Indonesia’s cultural values are in line with national development, and development is an effort that requires participation not just from the government or elites, but also people of various identities, generations, and backgrounds.
The minister said that Punguan Simbolon dohot Boruna Indonesia (PSBI) has promoted the development of culture and creative economy, particularly Batak Samosir culture.
Their efforts are in line with President Prabowo Subianto’s goal to consistently develop the creative economy, he noted.
Hence, his administration is ready to collaborate with the PSBI by supporting the group’s initiatives, ranging from creation to conservation, through technology, innovation, and digitalization, and even marketing their products domestically and globally.
Culture-based intellectual properties, including from Batak cultures, can serve as a means for diplomatic exchange at the global level, he opined.
In the same statement, Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, voiced a similar sentiment.
“Excellence and uniqueness can be shown and even promoted to the general public, including the global community. Moreover, it is in PSBI’s blood to foster connections as well as synergy and collaboration with various ministries,” Yudhoyono said.
He further said he expects the Creative Economy Ministry to rouse the Samosir people’s spirit, foster their creativity, and tap the potential of their unique culture.
The members of PSBI belong to the Simbolon clan of Toba Batak. The organization have been actively promoting Batak culture since 2006.
Organizations like PSBI have also expressed an interest in partnering with the government to further promote cultural activities to unify people.
