Brazilia, Brazil (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto has announced that the Indonesian government plans to send additional teams of experts to Brazil to study agricultural innovation, modernization, and technology.

He said the initiative has received approval from Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva during their bilateral meeting in Brasília on Wednesday.

"President Lula and his ministers have graciously welcomed our request to send more technical teams to study the innovations, modernization, and technology you have here," Prabowo said during a joint press statement with Lula at the Palácio do Planalto, the Brazilian presidential palace.

Prabowo noted that Brazil is a global leader in agricultural development, including biofuel use and productivity gains. He said Indonesia could greatly benefit by learning from Brazil’s experience.

The two countries are also exploring opportunities for joint research in agricultural technology.

On the same occasion, Prabowo emphasized that food security and self-sufficiency are top priorities for Indonesia. He said Indonesia has drawn inspiration from several Brazilian programs, including the free meal program for children and pregnant women.

The Indonesian government aims to provide 82.9 million meals per day by the end of this year.

Beyond agriculture, Prabowo also pointed to a shared vision in the energy transition sector. He said Indonesia is preparing to achieve 100 percent renewable energy use within the next decade.

"Officially, the target is 2040, but my experts believe we can reach it sooner. Once again, we look to Brazil’s success in biofuels, and we’re determined to catch up," he said.
