“Our visit to Central Sulawesi is to conduct a coordination meeting with governors, not only from Central Sulawesi but also from Eastern Sulawesi, to discuss future development based on spatial planning that we formulate together,” AHY told reporters during a working visit to Donggala District, Central Sulawesi, on Thursday.
He emphasized the need for sound spatial planning in the region to ensure equitable infrastructure development.
“Spatial planning must be the foundation of development. Moving forward, we must balance our ambition for high economic growth with equity, ensuring that prosperity is distributed fairly to all communities without compromising environmental sustainability,” he emphasized.
AHY remarked that his office, through the Coordinating Ministry for Infrastructure and Regional Development, aims to strengthen synergy and collaboration between the central government and regional administrations at the provincial, district, and city levels.
“Connectivity is a key element of economic transformation. Central Sulawesi is rich in natural resources, and to increase their value, we must ensure downstream processing is properly implemented and production is consistently improved,” he explained.
He noted that stronger connectivity would accelerate distribution processes and significantly boost the economic value for both the region and the country as a whole.
“Tourism will also continue to grow, so transportation infrastructure must be further strengthened. Tourists and residents will come if there is sufficient infrastructure supporting tourism destinations across Central Sulawesi,” he remarked.
AHY pointed to Donggala Port as one of the province’s well-developed transport facilities.
“We saw that the port facilities are quite impressive. Hopefully, it will continue to grow, especially in supporting maritime transportation for both passengers and goods, and contribute to economic development in Central Sulawesi,” he concluded.
