However, he noted that the plan may be influenced by the ongoing revision of the Hajj Law by the House of Representatives (DPR).
"BP Haji was essentially founded to play the role of a Hajj organizer, but we will take into consideration the DPR’s insights to be outlined in the Hajj Bill," he told the media at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Friday (July 11)
Hadi, who also serves as spokesperson for President Prabowo Subianto, highlighted that the government would review the implementation of the Hajj pilgrimage in previous years to identify areas for improvement.
"We all hope that next year's Hajj pilgrimage will be much better organized than in previous years," the minister stated.
The Religious Affairs Ministry worked in coordination with BP Haji, which was established by President Prabowo, to assist Indonesian pilgrims during the recently concluded 2025 Hajj season. Before the agency’s establishment, the ministry assumed full responsibility for Hajj affairs.
The plan is for BP Haji to start taking over this responsibility in 2026, as confirmed by top officials from both the ministry and the agency. Religious Affairs Minister Nasaruddin Umar noted on January 17 that this year's Hajj would be the last managed by his ministry.
Meanwhile, the parliament is working to revise Law No. 8 of 2019 on Hajj and Umrah, which may formally legalize the transfer of responsibilities from the ministry to BP Haji.
Head of BP Haji Mochamad Irfan Yusuf also indicated on February 19 that the agency might transform into a Ministry of Hajj and Umrah.
"We are ready to function as a Hajj and Umrah Ministry in 2026. This transformation will certainly strengthen our role in providing the best services to Indonesian Hajj pilgrims, as mandated by President Prabowo," he remarked during a Hajj Law revision discussion in Jakarta.
